Legislation Sponsored
Each day at the Legislature, I am focused on passing common-sense reforms that reflect our Arizona values.
Because of my ability to work across the aisle, I was one of only eight Democratic legislators to pass a bill this session. I am proud of my record representing you:
- I authored HB2419: sibling visitation rights. This bill requires Child Protective Services to keep siblings together whenever possible when placing them in out-of-home care such as foster care or a group home. This bill not only does the right thing for at-risk children, it saves taxpayers’ money by mitigating some of the worst effects of out-of-home placement. This pro-family bill passed with overwhelming bipartisan support.
- I successfully championed a bipartisan measure that requires charter schools to post their annual budgets before adopting them to ensure greater accountability and transparency with taxpayer dollars.
- I worked with Republican leaders to ensure that residents receive a legible notice clearly notifying them of a fire districts’ intent to annex an area or merge two fire districts together, thus protecting personal property rights and taxpayers’ pocketbooks.
- I steered a critical bill through the legislative process that helps school districts protect our young people from dating violence, while respecting parents’ rights and local control (SB1308).
I successfully worked with Republicans as well as Democrats to get these bills passed and signed into law.
